Chronic Disease

RESEARCH FOCUS Interventions relating to the health care system and improving the health of people with chronic diseases from disadvantaged and Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Priority areas for the next 3-5 years

  1. Continue building national and international collaborations with University of Adelaide, UNSW,  HK, Cambridge
  1. Dissemination
  • Peer-reviewed journals
  • Book/s –General practice Nursing
  • Influencing policy and practice activities
  1. To increase the quality and equity of chronic disease care in general practice and primary care, by improving the congruence between program and policy development and the needs of patients and practitioners, particularly in socioeconomically disadvantaged settings.
  1. To identify barriers and facilitators to access and uptake of chronic disease management in mainstream General Practice and to explore interventions for different groups within the Australian population such as ATSI, NESB, etc.

To develop and integrate psychological intervention modules for patients and carers into chronic disease management programs.
