Researching Abuse and ViolencE in primary care (RAVE program)
Includes family violence or intimate partner violence, child abuse, unwanted sexual encounters, sexual harassment and abuse; and workplace violence.
Aim
To improve the health and well being of women and their families exposed to intimate partner violence and abuse by providing research evidence to inform policy and practice.
To understand the nature and consequences of abuse and violence for both patients attending and those working in the primary care setting to enable interventions to be developed.
This program of research will be in three main areas
- Definition, prevalence and natural history of abuse and violence in primary care
- health consequences of abuse and violence in primary care
- screening and interventions for intimate partner abuse and other forms of violence in health care settings to inform policy and practice
